Yes, tags are meant for instructors to use for organizational purposes. When adding an item via Canvas, you can add tags along with other bibliographic information. If an item has already been added to a course, you can add both Instructor Tags and Personal Tags. Instructor Tags are viewable by everyone in the course and are useful for organizing readings; Personal Tags are only visible to you.
