E-ZBorrow is a service that delivers books to any of the New School Libraries within 1 week. Books can be borrowed for 16 weeks and cannot be renewed. View our tutorials for requesting books we don't own in the Consortium or books that are checked out.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is recommended for periodical articles and for books that are not available through E-ZBorrow. ILL is available to faculty and degree-seeking students and is administered by NYU Bobst Library for the New School community. It cannot be used to request periodicals or books that are owned by the Consortium.
To place an ILL request, log into your library account (by clicking on "Renew Items" on the library website) and click on your name (located in the upper right hand corner). Next you will select the "My Account" option. Once you have selected this option you will be directed a new page. Under the "My Library Interlibrary Loan" box, click on the link that says "Log into your ILL account". Here you will have the option to request a book, article, or book chapter. Another option is to log directly into your ILL account. Watch our How to Access Interlibrary Loan video tutorial for detailed instructions.
After filling out any of the "Make a Request" forms, you can check the status of your requests using one of the links under the "View" section of the menu. You will be notified by email when your items available to be picked up at Bobst Library or when they have been delivered to you in electronic format.
An additional service that we provide is the METRO referral service. A referral card can be obtained from any New School or New York Public Library Librarian. The card allows the user to consult (not borrow) any item that is owned at a participating NYC library, but is not owned by a Consortium library or the New York Public Library. The card is for one-time use only, and must be used within 14 days of issuance.
