As part of ongoing efforts to make services more convenient for The New School community, the Libraries, Archives and Special Collections (ASC), and the University Learning Center (ULC) are undergoing several exciting changes this summer and fall. These updates are designed to bring our services closer together, improve access, and enhance the student experience.
Archives & Special Collections
In September, Archives and Special Collections (ASC) is moving to the 7th floor of the University Center Library. The new, expanded area will feature dedicated storage, a workspace and processing area, and a welcoming reading room for students and researchers. To facilitate the move and give us time to settle into the new spaces, we will not be scheduling in-person research appointments from August 4 - October 17. We plan to re-open to researchers the week of October 20.
University Center Library
To support this transition of the ASC, new stacks have been added to the 6th floor to house many of the library books previously located on the 7th floor. The Research & Instructional Services (RIS) Librarians will be relocating to the 6th floor. The 6th floor is seeing a minor refresh to accommodate these changes.
University Learning Center
This fall, the University Learning Center (ULC) will move into the University Center, as well. The collaboration rooms on the 6th floor will be dedicated to tutoring and academic support services, but will remain available for general student use outside of ULC hours.
