Matriculated students*, faculty, and administrative staff at the New School may visit any of the libraries in the Research Library Association of South Manhattan with a current, valid, New School ID card.

Please view each Consortium library's website in order to find access information such as hours of operation and registration or appointment requirements.

Consortium library holdings can be located using the Library Catalog. Items borrowed from a Consortium library can be returned to any other Consortium library location.

NYU Bobst Library is the largest consortium library and no appointment is necessary.  New School visitors may borrow items, use the guest WiFi network, and access electronic books, journals, and databases on-site (with the exception of most business databases). NYU Bobst items listed as offsite can be directly requested in the catalog but must be picked up at NYU Bobst. Please Ask Us if you need assistance borrowing items from NYU Bobst.

Unfortunately, continuing education students and alumni do not have access to the library consortium. Please email libhelp@newschool.edu or ask for a librarian for suggested alternatives.

The New School is also a member of PALCI, the Consortium that provides access to 70 university libraries across the United States.

Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in New York State may apply for a New York Public Library card.  Anyone, with or without a library card, may visit any New York Public Library location, browse onsite collections, and access electronic resources.

*Matriculated students do not include continuing education students and students enrolled only in certificate programs.
