Matriculated students, faculty, and administrative staff at the New School may visit any of the libraries in the Research Library Association of South Manhattan with a current, valid, New School ID card.
- NYU | The Elmer Holmes Bobst Library
- IFA | NYU Stephen Chan Library of Fine Arts (non-circulating research library)
- The Cooper Union Library
- New York School of Interior Design Library
- New York Academy of Art
- New-York Historical Society Library (non-circulating research library)
Please view each Consortium library's website in order to find access information such as hours of operation and registration or appointment requirements. New School students, faculty, and staff also have reading privileges at Cardozo Law Library.
Consortium library holdings can be located using the library catalog.
NYU Bobst Library is the largest consortium library and no appointment is necessary. New School visitors may borrow items, use the guest WiFi network, and access electronic books, journals, and databases (with the exception of some business databases). Items borrowed from a Consortium library can be returned to any other Consortium library location. NYU materials can be requested via our library catalog.
Unfortunately, non-certificate continuing education students, IRP members, and alumni do not have access to the library consortium. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or ask for a librarian for suggested alternatives.
The New School is also a member of PALCI, the Consortium that provides the E-ZBorrow service. Using E-ZBorrow, you may have physical books delivered to any New School library location.
Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in New York State may apply for a New York Public Library card. Anyone, with or without a library card, may visit any New York Public Library location, browse onsite collections, and access electronic resources.
